An embassy is a place of action and representation. In our vision, it has to be modern, objective, monumental but also domestic. It is characterised by closedness and security, in the same time it should express openness and transparency. It is a place of contrasts.
The choice of a simple, undated design holds complexities and ambiguities within the tradition of architectural form.
The skeleton structure done in a regional concrete allows rationalism and a great indeterminacy of the plan. The walls in rammed earth suggest a reference to the landscape. Its close landscape in respect to the local memory of the place serves the embassy needs but can become a garden where one could experience an emotional effect. The proposed vegetation consists of only native Ethiopian species, highlighted with some exceptional and colourful botanical trees.
